Welcome to Salford Astronomical Society

We are a varied group of individuals who all share the same passion for Astronomy. There are a number of different interests in the group from Observing, Astrophotography and Space Flight.

Our observatory houses an 18.5 inch Goto Newtonian Reflector, relocated from Jodrell Bank over 45 years ago, where it was used to do lots of scientific research.

The Society works in partnership with its affiliates NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratories, Kids In Space and other local educational services in outreach and development of its STEM Innovation Lab

Throughout the winter months, as well as meetings and observing sessions we host Lectures from various professionals in the field.

New members are always welcome and membership is open to everyone
